Ideal Girl

Rarely do I encounter an article interesting enough for me to share in my blog or in Facebook. Date A Girl Who Invests in the Stock Market from Stock Market for Pinoys blog is one of them. It's a good read and a boost for us ladies who invest/trade stocks. Ever since I started investing in the stock market, I wasn't able to wear all the latest trends. For a designer, I've become practical and less flashy. Sometimes I think that my friends who are aware that I trade in the stock market think that I've gone mad.  When I learned about investing and financial literacy and all that, I was so excited to share it with them that it was all I could talk about. I was like an atheist who suddenly found Jesus. Although it sparked interest, it was not enough for them to start investing themselves. They probably thought it was just another phase in my life like when I got addicted to playing Audition Online and High Street Five - (too much that I got dengue, because my immune system weakened from lack of sleep ... and, yes, of course a denguerous mosquito bit me). In fact, one of my friends told me that she'd start investing when I get rich.  I thought to myself... uhhh ok, see you in 20 years!  Anyway, here's a snippet from that article.  To read the whole article click here.

Date a girl who is financially literate because she doesn’t need you to date her. She knows that men are like stocks – there are so many options to choose from. So when she says yes to a date, it means she sees something in you. You’ll never have doubts with a girl who invests in the stock market because she’s already wealthy (or soon to be wealthy). You’re sure she won’t be interested in you for your money. She’ll love you not for what you have, but for who you really are.
A girl who invests in the stock market will be the rarest girl you’ll meet here in the country. So when you find her: love her and never let her go. Invest your time understanding her. Invest your money creating beautiful memories with her. Follow this advice, and your life will [sic] better forever.

*Sigh... such magical words. :)

Fashionistas Must Read

I found the perfect book for fashionistas who happen to be interested in trading the stock market.  It's a book called High Heeled Traders by Ms. Charmel Delos Santos.  It was written in such a way that women (like me) who get easily bored with "nose-bleed"  trading terminologies such as arbitrage, position sizing, value trading etc., can actually learn and have fun! She asserts that women are natural traders since we shop all the time, which makes a lot of sense, because Trading is simply Buying and Selling... errr.. although Shopping is mostly Buying and the only time we sell is when we have "garage sales" which by then the items have lost their original value...  Never mind, because this book will  not only teach you Trading basics, but it will also enlighten and inspire you with the author's anecdotes.

Whimsical Nautical Baby Shower

Why do we throw baby showers anyway?

It's quite interesting actually.  Here's a trivia for you. Baby Shower dates back to the ancient times in Egypt and Rome, where the purpose was to welcome the baby to the world and to help the mommy prepare for the coming baby.  Other mothers would bring hand me down baby clothes and other stuffs that could be useful to the mother and baby.  Later, the purpose was to entertain the mother-to-be before and after birth.  In Victorian times, the new moms were sequestered with their babies for about a month and it can get really lonely. Today, the purpose is similar to the ancient Egypt and Rome's simple and practical informal event but without the invitations, gift registries and games.  (Source: Articlesbase)

Now, back to my baby shower... Me and my "Baby Shower" committee spent about a month planning and organizing the event.  I specifically wanted a whimsical Nautical theme...

Top 3 Oscar's 2012 Red Carpet Gown Picks

I always look forward to Oscar's red carpet show every year.  Nothing spells more glitz and glam better that the Oscars.  So for this year here's my top 3 gown picks:

On third place... I was in awe when i saw this clean and minimalist caped gown. It is so unique and Gwyneth carried it well.
 Gwyneth Paltrow
in white Tom Ford

Octavia is on second place.  She's definitely a winner with this flattering gown.  Her choice of earrings is perfect for her gown as well.
Octavia Spencer
in Tadashi Shoji

Color, cut, fit, design... perfection! Stacey's Marchesca is my top pick!

Maximize the Use of Your Accessories

I just love these accessories!  I can wear them with just about anything, anytime.  This is how I style these accessories with different outfits.

1.)  Forever21 dangling earrings - SM Megamall - on 50% off SALE Php250.00 ($6.00)
2.)  Forever21 bangles - SM Megamall - on 50% off SALE Php75.00 ($1.75)
3.)  Mphosis sandals - SM Megamall - Php1,499.75 ($35.50)
4.)  Polarized Shades - China - Php810.00 ($19.00)
5.)  Leather Bag - China - Php739.00 ($17.50)

I am very particular about the colors of the accessories that I buy.  Gold should not be too flashy gold.  I want something dull gold or antique gold.  I also love black because it's easier to match with different outfits.  For me, it's more classy that way and I know I can use them till next year or the next without them going out of style.

By choosing your accessories well, you can save a lot by not buying too many junks that you'd probably only use once or twice.

Again, Happy Shopping!

Make Compound Interest Your New BFF

We fashionistas love to shop, shop and SHOP!  Obviously, we need money for that.  If we don't have available cash we simply swipe our credit cards.  This is where the problem begins.  This is where "compound interest" becomes our  #1 nemesis.  Like most people I know, If you only pay the minimum charge each month, you'll have to pay 3.25% - 3.5% interest on the outstanding balance.  That goes on and on each month until you realize that you're paying double of the actual value of your purchase.  It's scary!  "Compound Interest" is definitely your worst nightmare!

Or maybe not...
